Thus ends the twenty-first chapter in the Dāna-dharma section of the Anuśāsana Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, dealing with the dialogue between Aṣṭāvakra and the Northern Direction. This closing colophon marks the completion of that chapter within the teaching on the dharma of giving.
भीष्म उवाच
This line is a chapter-ending colophon rather than a doctrinal verse; it frames the surrounding material as instruction on dāna-dharma (the ethical duty of giving) presented through the dialogue of Aṣṭāvakra and the personified Northern Direction.
Bhīṣma’s discourse reaches the formal close of the twenty-first chapter within the Dāna-dharma section of the Anuśāsana Parva, indicating that the Aṣṭāvakra–Uttara-diśā dialogue topic for that chapter has concluded.
