Bhīṣma said: “Again and again I told him, ‘For you, the proper time for reconciliation has now come.’ Yet that deluded man, of very poor understanding, did not act upon my counsel. After bringing widespread slaughter upon this earth, he then went to his own destruction.”

Wise counsel—especially urging timely reconciliation—should not be ignored. Delusion and poor judgment that reject peace lead to widespread harm and ultimately to one’s own ruin.
Bhīṣma recalls repeatedly advising a certain person that the time for making peace had come. That person refused to follow the advice, caused great slaughter across the realm, and then met destruction himself.
