घोरे तमस्ययुध्यन्त सहिता देवदानवा: । अविध्यत शरैस्तत्र स्वर्भानु: सोमभास्करौ

In ancient times, the gods and the Dānavas fought one another amid dreadful darkness. There Svarbhānu (Rāhu) struck the Moon and the Sun with his arrows, wounding them.
