Bhishma said: For him, no fear arises—from kings, from piśācas, or from rākṣasas; nor does fear arise from fire, water, wind, or serpents. Thus, through the disciplined recitation of the Gāyatrī, a twice-born person is protected from worldly and unseen dangers, and his steadiness in dharma is strengthened.
भीष्म उवाच
Regular Gāyatrī-recitation and disciplined spiritual practice cultivate inner steadiness and are praised as conferring protection—symbolically and ethically—against threats from rulers, hostile beings, and natural dangers.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and religious duties; here he extols the power of sacred recitation (especially Gāyatrī-japa) as a safeguard for the dvija who follows it.
