श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
True restraint includes the mind: one should not even mentally entertain the intention to violate another’s spouse, even under tempting private circumstances; such inner and outer self-control is praised as dharmic and leads to heavenly merit.
Śrī Maheśvara is instructing on conduct (ācāra) and the fruits of ethical restraint, emphasizing that avoiding harm/transgression toward others’ wives—especially in secrecy and temptation—is a mark of righteousness with auspicious results.
