मातृवत् स्वसृवच्चैव नित्यं दुहितृवच्च ये
mātṛvat svasṛvaccaiva nityaṃ duhitṛvacca ye
Maheshvara said: Those who always regard (women) as they would a mother, as they would a sister, and as they would a daughter—maintaining such reverent restraint at all times—uphold righteous conduct in social life.
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
To cultivate unwavering ethical restraint by viewing women with the reverence due to one’s mother, sister, and daughter—an inner discipline that prevents exploitation and supports dharma.
Śrīmaheśvara is delivering a dharma-instruction, emphasizing a standard of conduct: constant respectful regard toward women, expressed through familial analogies (mother/sister/daughter).
