Then all the assembled sages, seated in the presence of Kṛṣṇa, were filled with wonder. With eyes blossoming like lotus-petals, they gazed upon Janārdana, in reverent astonishment at the divine being whose nearness awakens devotion and moral reflection.

The verse highlights the ethical-religious mood that arises in the proximity of the divine: true spiritual authority (the sages) responds not with argument but with reverent wonder, suggesting that dharma is ultimately grounded in direct recognition of the sacred and in humility before it.
Vāyudeva describes how the gathered sages, sitting near Kṛṣṇa, become amazed and fix their lotus-like, fully opened eyes upon Janārdana, emphasizing a moment of collective awe in Kṛṣṇa’s presence.
