युधिछिर उवाच
The verse models dhārmic inquiry: a ruler seeks guidance with humility, requesting an answer not merely for himself but for the welfare and understanding of all his brothers, emphasizing respectful approach to moral instruction.
Yudhiṣṭhira formally addresses a revered, blameless king/authority figure and asks permission-like grace to pose a question, requesting a clear response meant to benefit the entire group of brothers.
