Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
महादेवस्य रोषाच्च आपो नष्टा: पुराभवन्
In former times, through Mahādeva’s wrath, the waters were destroyed. Then the gods, with Rudra as the lord of that rite, obtained other waters by means of the Saptakapāla sacrifice. Thus, only when Tryambaka—Śiva, the three-eyed Lord—was pleased did water become available upon the earth.
