रुरुवानरशार्दूलसिंहद्वीपिसमाकुलम् । कुरड़बर्हिणाकीर्ण मार्जारभुजगावृतम् । पूगैश्न मृगजातीनां महिषर्क्षनिषेवितम्
Translation
The forest bordering the āśrama teemed with ruru-deer, monkeys, tigers, lions, and leopards. It was thick with peacocks, and ringed about with wildcats and serpents. Herds of many kinds of deer, along with wild buffalo and bears, filled the woodland near the hermitage.
