Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

हृदि प्राणो मनो जीवो योगात्मा योगसंज्ञित: । ध्यानं तत्परमात्मा च भावग्राह्मो महेश्वर:

Vāsudeva said: “In the hearts of beings, the Blessed Śaṅkara—Maheśvara—abides as prāṇa (life-breath), as mind, and as the jīva (individual soul). He is the very essence of yoga, the yogin, meditation, and the Paramātman. The Lord Maheśvara is grasped only through bhakti—through the feeling of devoted reverence.”
