Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
taṁ prapadya sadā vatsa sarvabhāvena śaṅkaram | tatprasādāc ca kāmebhyaḥ phalaṁ prāpsyasi putraka ||
Vāsudeva said: “My dear child, always take refuge in Śaṅkara with your whole being. By his grace alone you will obtain the fruits you seek, in accordance with your wishes.”
Wholehearted surrender to Śaṅkara is presented as the ethical and effective means to attain desired outcomes; results are framed as arising from divine grace rather than mere personal effort.
Vāsudeva addresses a younger listener affectionately, instructing him to seek Śiva’s refuge continually and assuring him that, through Śiva’s favor, he will gain the fruits he seeks.
