Adhyāya 132 — The path to heaven through deed, mind, and speech; karmic results for lifespan

Thus ends the one hundred and twenty-sixth chapter on the secret concerning the gods, within the section on the dharma of giving, contained in the Anuśāsana Parva of the sacred Mahābhārata.
भीष्म उवाच
This line functions as a colophon: it signals the completion of a chapter within the Mahābhārata’s instruction on dāna-dharma (the ethics of giving), framing the preceding discourse as an authoritative, structured teaching.
Bhīṣma’s discourse reaches a formal stopping point: the text announces that the 126th chapter—described as dealing with a ‘secret concerning the gods’—has concluded within the Anuśāsana Parva’s Dana-dharma section.
