Ahiṃsā as Threefold Restraint (Mind–Speech–Action) and the Ethics of Consumption
दधि हृत्वा बकश्नापि प्लवो मत्स्यानसंस्कृतान् | चोरयित्वा तु दुर्बुद्धिर्मधु दंश: प्रजायते
A man of perverted understanding, by stealing dadhi (curd), is born as a heron. By stealing raw, unprepared fish, he is born as a water-bird called plava. And by stealing honey, he is born as a madhudaṃśa—an insect that bites, like a mosquito.
