अहिंसा-आत्मौपम्य-उपदेशः | Instruction on Ahiṃsā and Self-Comparison Ethics
भरण्यां तु शिरो विद्यात् केशाना्द्रां नराधिप । समाप्ते तु घृतं दद्याद् ब्राह्मणे वेदपारगे
bharaṇyāṃ tu śiro vidyāt keśānārdraṃ narādhipa | samāpte tu ghṛtaṃ dadyād brāhmaṇe vedapārage ||
Bhīṣma said: “O king, one should know the lunar mansion Bharaṇī as the ‘head’, and Ārdrā as the ‘hair’ (of the cosmic form). Having thus assigned the nakṣatras to the limbs and worshipped them with their respective mantras—performing daily japa and homa—when the observance is completed at the full-moon, one should give ghee in charity to a Brāhmaṇa who is fully versed in the Vedas.”
