Śrī-nivāsa: Traits and Conditions for the Abode of Prosperity (श्री-निवासः)
सत्यासु नित्यं प्रियदर्शनासु सौभाग्ययुक्तासु गुणान्वितासु,इति श्रीमहा भारते अनुशासनपर्वणि दानथधर्मपर्वणि श्रीरुक्मिणीसंवादे एकादशो<5ध्याय:
satyāsu nityaṃ priyadarśanāsu saubhāgyayuktāsu guṇānvitāsu | iti śrīmahābhārate anuśāsanaparvaṇi dānadharmaparvaṇi śrīrukmiṇīsaṃvāde ekādaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||
Bhīṣma said: “(One should place one’s trust and affection) always in women who are truthful, ever pleasing to behold, endowed with good fortune, and possessed of virtues.” Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, in the Anuśāsana Parva, within the section on the dharma of gifts, in the dialogue concerning Śrī Rukmiṇī, ends the Eleventh Chapter.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse praises a cluster of ethical and auspicious qualities—truthfulness, virtue, and conduct that brings harmony and prosperity—presented as worthy of esteem and trust within household life and dharma-oriented social order.
Bhīṣma is speaking in the Anuśāsana Parva within a dharma discourse; this line functions as a concluding statement (with the colophon) in the Rukmiṇī-related dialogue, summarizing the ideal qualities being commended.
