उपदेशदोषप्रसङ्गः (Upadeśa-doṣa-prasaṅgaḥ) — The Risk of Misapplied Counsel
सांख्ये चैव परा प्रीतिस्तस्य चैवं व्यवर्धत । वे ऋषि वेद और अथर्ववेदके परिनिष्छित विद्वान् हो गये। कल्पप्रयोग और ज्योतिषयमें भी पारंगत हुए। सांख्यमें भी उनका परम अनुराग बढ़ने लगा
sāṅkhye caiva parā prītis tasya caivaṃ vyavardhata |
Bhishma said: “And in Sāṅkhya too, his highest delight arose, and in this manner it continued to grow.” He became a scholar of settled judgment in the Vedas and the Atharvaveda, and was skilled as well in Kalpa (ritual discipline) and Jyotiṣa (astral science). Thus his supreme love for Sāṅkhya increased ever more.
भीष्म उवाच
That the culmination of learning is an inner growth toward discriminative wisdom (Sāṅkhya): a deepening delight in truth and discernment, which supports ethical steadiness and self-mastery.
Bhīṣma is describing a person’s intellectual and spiritual development: beyond proficiency in scriptural and auxiliary disciplines, the individual’s supreme inclination increasingly turns toward Sāṅkhya—reflective insight into reality and the self.
