Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic ideal of family and lineage: a king’s rightful joy is sanctified when affirmed by brahmin blessings and public praise, showing that personal affection and social-religious approval can harmonize within righteous kingship.

The king affectionately smells the boy’s head and embraces him; brahmins bless him and bards sing. In that moment the king feels supreme happiness specifically described as arising from the touch of his son.
