Educational Q&A

The verse presents the idea that divine auspiciousness (Śrī/Lakṣmī) can manifest in the human world to promote welfare and joy, and it links virtue (sādhvī) and noble lineage with the presence of dharmic grace.

Vaiśaṃpāyana describes the birth/manifestation of Rukmiṇī in Bhīṣmaka’s family, identifying her as a portion of Śrī (Lakṣmī) who appears on earth for the sake of delight and well-being.
