Vaiśampāyana said: Among the children were Dīrghabāhu and Mahābāhu, Vyūḍhoru and Kanakāṅgada; also Kuṇḍaja and Citraka; and Duḥśalā—together with more than a hundred others. The narration underscores the sheer magnitude of the Kuru lineage, foreshadowing how an unchecked expansion of power and kinship can become the seedbed for rivalry and adharma when not guided by restraint and right conduct.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the vastness of a royal lineage; ethically, it suggests that mere numbers, strength, and prestige do not ensure dharma—only disciplined conduct and wise governance prevent kinship and power from turning into conflict.
Vaiśampāyana continues a genealogical enumeration, listing several named offspring (including Duḥśalā) and indicating that the total exceeded a hundred, emphasizing the scale of the family and setting context for later dynastic tensions.
