Vaiśampāyana uvāca: tathety uktvā ca gatvā ca Bhīṣmam ūcuḥ kumārakāḥ.
Vaiśampāyana said: Having replied, “So be it,” the young boys went to Bhīṣma and reported to him the truthful words of the brāhmaṇa and the astonishing valor he had displayed. Hearing the boys’ account, Bhīṣma understood that the brāhmaṇa was none other than Ācārya Droṇa.
Truthful reporting and discernment are presented as ethical strengths: the boys convey the brāhmaṇa’s words and deeds faithfully, and Bhīṣma uses careful judgment to identify the person behind the extraordinary prowess—recognizing Droṇa.
After agreeing (“So be it”), the boys go to Bhīṣma and narrate the brāhmaṇa’s true statements and remarkable feats. From their report, Bhīṣma concludes that the brāhmaṇa is actually Ācārya Droṇa.
