Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
अहो वो धिग् बल क्षात्रं धिगेतां व: कृतास्त्राताम् । भरतस्यान्वये जाता ये वीटां नाधिगच्छत,“अहो! तुमलोगोंके क्षत्रिययलको धिक्कार है और तुमलोगोंकी इस अस्त्र-विद्या- विषयक निपुणताको भी धिक्कार है; क्योंकि तुमलोग भरतवंशमें जन्म लेकर भी कुएँमें गिरी हुई गुल्लीको नहीं निकाल पाते
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | aho vo dhig bala kṣātraṃ dhig etāṃ vaḥ kṛtāstratām | bharatasyānvaye jātā ye vīṭāṃ nādhigacchata ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “Shame on your Kṣatriya strength—shame even on your vaunted mastery of weapons! For though you are born in the lineage of Bharata, you cannot even retrieve a small ball that has fallen into a well.”
