Vaiśampāyana said: Then, coming to him in secret, he fully disclosed to his son all details of his lineage and clan. He also instructed him completely in the fourfold science of archery (Dhanurveda), along with many other disciplines and their subtle inner meanings. As a result, Kṛpa soon became an eminent master-teacher of the Dhanurveda.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights responsible transmission: identity (gotra/lineage) and disciplined knowledge (Dhanurveda and other śāstras) are to be taught fully and correctly, including subtle principles, so that the student becomes competent and ethically grounded.

A father (in concealed circumstances) approaches his son, reveals his full background and lineage, and trains him thoroughly in Dhanurveda and other sciences; this training quickly establishes Kṛpa as an outstanding authority in archery.
