Thus ends the one hundred and twentieth chapter of the Sambhava Parva within the Ādi Parva of the sacred Mahābhārata, concerning the narrative of Vyūṣitāśva.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a chapter-ending colophon, the verse primarily teaches textual awareness: the Mahābhārata frames moral history through carefully segmented narratives. By marking the completion of an upākhyāna within the Sambhava Parva, it underscores that dharma is traced through origins, lineage, and the consequences of conduct across generations.
The speaker (Vaiśampāyana) is not advancing the plot here but formally closing the chapter, stating that the 120th chapter—focused on the Vyūṣitāśva episode—has concluded within the Sambhava Parva of the Ādi Parva.
