अविमुक्तक्षेत्रमाहात्म्य — काशी-वाराणसी में मोक्ष, लिङ्ग-तीर्थ-मानचित्र, और उपासना-विधि
श्रुतिमद्भिश् च विप्रेन्द्रैः संसिद्धैश् च तपस्विभिः प्रतिमासं तथाष्टम्यां प्रतिमासं चतुर्दशीम्
śrutimadbhiś ca viprendraiḥ saṃsiddhaiś ca tapasvibhiḥ pratimāsaṃ tathāṣṭamyāṃ pratimāsaṃ caturdaśīm
And by Veda-knowing brahmins—foremost among the twice-born—and by perfected ascetics, the observance is upheld every month: on the eighth lunar day (aṣṭamī) and, likewise, on the fourteenth (caturdaśī), as sacred times to worship Pati (Lord Śiva), who loosens the pāśa-bonds that bind the paśu, the individual soul.
