Shloka 24

व्यपोहनस्तवनिरूपण-प्रसङ्गे नक्तभोजन-शिवव्रतविधिः (वार्षिक-प्रतिमास-क्रमः)

श्यामाकान्नघृतक्षीरैर् जितक्रोधो जितेन्द्रियः चतुर्दश्यामथाष्टम्याम् उपवासं च कारयेत्

śyāmākānnaghṛtakṣīrair jitakrodho jitendriyaḥ caturdaśyāmathāṣṭamyām upavāsaṃ ca kārayet

Having conquered anger and mastered the senses, one should offer meals of śyāmāka grain together with ghee and milk, and also undertake fasting on the fourteenth lunar day and on the eighth. Thus the paśu is disciplined and turned toward Pati, Lord Śiva.
