hiraṇyagarbhasargaś ca prasaṃgādbahuvistarāt aṇḍānāmīdṛśānāṃ tu koṭyo jñeyāḥ sahasraśaḥ
The creation that proceeds from Hiraṇyagarbha has been spoken of only incidentally, in a broad outline. Know that such cosmic Eggs (brahmāṇḍas) are crores upon crores—indeed, thousands of crores.
Suta Goswami
By asserting innumerable brahmāṇḍas, the verse points to Mahādeva as Pati—the transcendent Lord beyond all worlds—so Linga worship is directed to the Reality that surpasses any single cosmos.
Though Shiva is not named, the Purāṇic Shaiva frame implies that even Hiraṇyagarbha and countless cosmic eggs arise within the Lord’s overarching sovereignty; Shiva-tattva is thus the higher ground of all creation-processes.
No specific rite is prescribed here; the takeaway is contemplative—Pāśupata-oriented dhyāna on the Lord as Pati beyond innumerable universes, loosening the pasha of limited identification.
