पुरुषस्त्वं जगन्नाथो विष्णुर्विश्वेश्वरो भवान् यो ऽयं ब्रह्मासि पुरुषो विश्वमूर्तिः पितामहः
puruṣastvaṃ jagannātho viṣṇurviśveśvaro bhavān yo 'yaṃ brahmāsi puruṣo viśvamūrtiḥ pitāmahaḥ
You are the Puruṣa, the Lord of the universe; You are Viṣṇu, the Lord of all worlds. And You are that very Brahmā—the cosmic Person, the Grandfather—whose form is the entire universe.
Suta (narrating a hymn of identification of Shiva with Vishnu and Brahma within the Purva-Bhaga context)
It grounds Linga-upāsanā in non-dual recognition of Pati: the worshipped Lord is the inner Self and cosmic ruler who also appears as Brahmā (creation) and Viṣṇu (preservation), so the Linga signifies the one supreme reality beyond limited forms.
Shiva-tattva is presented as the all-encompassing Puruṣa and Viśveśvara—transcendent yet immanent—who manifests functional powers as Brahmā and Viṣṇu while remaining the singular sovereign (Pati) over all worlds.
The key takeaway is contemplative upāsanā (bhāvanā) used in Pāśupata-oriented devotion: meditate on the Lord in the Linga as the cosmic Puruṣa who pervades and governs all, dissolving pasha (bondage) through right knowledge and worship.
