Adhyaya 10
सद्योजातं तथा रक्ते रक्तं वामं पितामहः पीते तत्पुरुषं पीतम् अघोरे कृष्णमीश्वरम्
sadyojātaṃ tathā rakte raktaṃ vāmaṃ pitāmahaḥ pīte tatpuruṣaṃ pītam aghore kṛṣṇamīśvaram
Pitāmaha (Brahmā) declares: In the red sphere is Sadyojāta, red-hued; on the left is Vāma. In the yellow sphere is Tatpuruṣa, yellow-hued; and in Aghora the Lord is black—thus the forms of Īśvara are distinguished by their colors.
Suta Goswami (narrating Brahma’s description)
It maps Shiva’s Panchabrahma aspects to distinct color-identities, guiding dhyāna (meditation) and mantra-based linga-pūjā where the worshipper contemplates Pati (Shiva) as the multi-aspected Lord beyond all pasha (bondage).
Shiva is presented as Īśvara/Pati manifesting through specific aspects (Sadyojāta, Vāma, Tatpuruṣa, Aghora) with recognizable attributes, indicating that the one Lord assumes ordered forms for creation, maintenance, concealment, and grace while remaining transcendent.
Panchabrahma-dhyāna: a Pāśupata-oriented contemplation in which the sādhaka visualizes Shiva’s aspects with their defining colors while reciting corresponding mantras during linga-arcana.
