There arise intestinal disorders and obstruction of the bowels, loss of appetite, emaciation, and dizziness. Nodular swellings appear in the flesh and fat, and rough harshness comes upon the skin and related tissues.
Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Attentive recognition of disease-signs (liṅga) to guide timely treatment and restraint.
Vedantic Theme: Deha as anitya and duḥkha-bhājana; discernment (viveka) arises by observing bodily afflictions without mistaking them for the Self.
Application: Use symptom-clusters—intestinal obstruction, anorexia, emaciation, dizziness, nodules, skin roughness—to seek vaidya care early, adjust diet, and reduce aggravating habits.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.166 (vyadhi-lakṣaṇa context; progressive doṣa-dhātu involvement)
This verse highlights viṣṭambha (obstruction/constipation-like blockage) as a key intestinal disorder linked with anorexia, emaciation, and dizziness—signs of deeper systemic imbalance.
It does not address the afterlife narrative; it is part of Garuda Purana’s instructional material on bodily ailments and their manifestations.
Consider digestive blockage, appetite loss, and unexplained weight loss as related symptoms; also watch for tissue nodules and skin roughness as indicators of broader health disturbance.
