Manu Offers Devahūti to Kardama; The Sage Accepts with a Devotional Vow

Śrī Maitreya said: Having thus revealed the greatness of the Emperor’s manifold virtues and deeds, the sage fell silent; and the Emperor, as if modestly abashed, addressed him as follows.
This verse highlights that even after displaying his royal virtues, Manu approaches the sage with modesty, showing that true leadership in the Bhagavata tradition is guided by humility before spiritual wisdom.
The narrative indicates the sage had completed his statement; Manu, respectful and slightly self-effacing, then responded—showing proper etiquette in a king’s dealings with a rishi.
After presenting your abilities or achievements, approach mentors with humility and listen carefully; let competence be balanced by modesty and respect for higher guidance.
