Portents at the Birth of Diti’s Sons and Hiraṇyākṣa Challenges Varuṇa
दितिस्तु भर्तुरादेशादपत्यपरिशङ्किनी । पूर्णे वर्षशते साध्वी पुत्रौ प्रसुषुवे यमौ ॥ २ ॥

The virtuous Diti, following her husband’s order and forewarning, was deeply anxious that the children in her womb would bring calamity upon the gods. After a full hundred years of pregnancy, she gave birth to twin sons.
