Parīkṣit Confronts Kali: Dharma (Bull) and Bhūmi (Cow) at the Dawn of Kali-yuga
इयं च भूमिर्भगवता न्यासितोरुभरा सती । श्रीमद्भिस्तत्पदन्यासै: सर्वत: कृतकौतुका ॥ २६ ॥
iyaṁ ca bhūmir bhagavatā nyāsitoru-bharā satī śrīmadbhis tat-pada-nyāsaiḥ sarvataḥ kṛta-kautukā
The earth’s burden was surely diminished by Bhagavān (and by others as well); when He was present as an avatāra, auspiciousness and good were accomplished everywhere by the blessed marks of His feet.
This verse says the earth becomes auspicious and joyfully transformed by the Lord’s foot-imprints, indicating His presence purifies and sanctifies creation.
The earth is burdened by irreligion and sinful rulers; the Lord’s intervention and His sacred presence relieve that burden and restore auspiciousness.
By honoring the Lord’s feet through bhakti—hearing, chanting, and pilgrimage to His līlā-sthānas—one brings sanctity and spiritual joy into one’s surroundings.
