Ambarīṣa’s Prayers to Sudarśana and the Deliverance of Durvāsā
अम्बरीषस्यचरितं येशृण्वन्तिमहात्मन: । मुक्तिं प्रयान्तितेसर्वेभक्त्याविष्णो: प्रसादत: ॥ २८ ॥
ambarīṣasya caritaṁ ye śṛṇvanti mahātmanaḥ muktiṁ prayānti te sarve bhaktyā viṣṇoḥ prasādataḥ
Those who hear with devotion the sacred deeds of the great soul Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, by the mercy of Lord Viṣṇu, swiftly attain bhakti or liberation.
Thus end the Bhaktivedanta purports of the Ninth Canto, Fifth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Durvāsā Muni’s Life Spared.”
This verse teaches that simply hearing the life and deeds of the great devotee Ambarīṣa can lead to liberation, because such hearing awakens bhakti and attracts Lord Viṣṇu’s mercy.
He concludes the narration by emphasizing its spiritual result: the listener’s devotion is strengthened, and by Viṣṇu’s grace that devotion culminates in liberation.
Regularly hear or read Bhagavatam narrations about exemplary devotees like Ambarīṣa with faith and attention; make śravaṇa (hearing) a steady practice to deepen bhakti and invite divine grace.
