Balarāma Humbles the Kurus and Rescues Sāmba
sāntvayitvā tu tān rāmaḥ sannaddhān vṛṣṇi-puṅgavān naicchat kurūṇāṁ vṛṣṇīnāṁ kaliṁ kali-malāpahaḥ
Thus He went to Hastināpura on His chariot, effulgent as the sun, accompanied by brāhmaṇas and family elders. He appeared like the moon surrounded by the ruling planets.
This verse shows Balarāma deliberately preventing a destructive feud between the Kurus and Vṛṣṇis, teaching that dharmic leaders restrain quarrel and protect social harmony.
Because he did not want a calamity of internecine conflict; as a protector of dharma, he pacified his own side first to prevent escalation.
Before reacting, first calm your own group, reduce inflammatory speech, and prioritize reconciliation—stopping “kali” (needless conflict) early.
