Kṛṣṇa Defeats Bāṇāsura and Receives Śiva’s Prayers
The Śoṇitapura Battle and the Jvara Episode
प्रद्युम्नो युयुधानश्च गद: साम्बोऽथ सारण: । नन्दोपनन्दभद्राद्या रामकृष्णानुवर्तिन: ॥ ३ ॥ अक्षौहिणीभिर्द्वादशभि: समेता: सर्वतोदिशम् । रुरुधुर्बाणनगरं समन्तात् सात्वतर्षभा: ॥ ४ ॥
pradyumno yuyudhānaś ca gadaḥ sāmbo ’tha sāraṇaḥ nandopananda-bhadrādyā rāma-kṛṣṇānuvartinaḥ
Following Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa, the foremost Sātvatas—Pradyumna, Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki), Gada, Sāmba, Sāraṇa, Nanda, Upananda, Bhadra, and others—assembled with twelve akṣauhiṇī divisions and, coming from every direction, laid siege to Bāṇa’s city, completely surrounding it on all sides.
They are prominent Yādava heroes and close associates of Lord Kṛṣṇa who accompany Him in major events, here advancing as His followers in the campaign against Bāṇāsura.
Because they act under the leadership of Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa, showing loyal service and coordinated support in the Lord’s mission during the conflict at Bāṇa’s city.
Devotional service is strengthened through faithful association and teamwork—standing with those devoted to Kṛṣṇa and assisting divine purposes with unity and discipline.
