Akrūra’s Prayers (Akrūra-stuti): The Lord as Cause of Causes, Virāṭ, and the Goal of All Paths
bhūs toyam agniḥ pavanaṁ kham ādir mahān ajādir mana indriyāṇi sarvendriyārthā vibudhāś ca sarve ye hetavas te jagato ’ṅga-bhūtāḥ
Earth, water, fire, air, and ether with its source, false ego; the mahat-tattva, total material nature and her source, the Lord’s puruṣa expansion; the mind, the senses, the sense objects, and the presiding deities of the senses—all these causes of the cosmic manifestation are born as limbs of Your transcendental body.
This verse teaches that earth, water, fire, air, and ether—and even subtler principles like mahat-tattva, mind, senses, and their objects—are all limbs of the Supreme Lord, showing His all-pervading nature.
In his prayers, Akrura glorifies Krishna as the ultimate source and support of all causes—material elements, cosmic principles, and even the demigods—thereby affirming Krishna’s supremacy beyond the universe.
It encourages seeing all aspects of life—body, mind, nature, and powers in the world—as connected to God, fostering humility, gratitude, and devotional consciousness in daily actions.
