Akrūra’s Mission: The Departure from Vraja and the Yamunā Vision of Viṣṇu-Ananta
ता निराशा निववृतुर्गोविन्दविनिवर्तने । विशोका अहनी निन्युर्गायन्त्य: प्रियचेष्टितम् ॥ ३७ ॥
tā nirāśā nivavṛtur govinda-vinivartane viśokā ahanī ninyur gāyantyaḥ priya-ceṣṭitam
The gopīs turned back, having lost hope that Govinda would return. Filled with sorrow, they spent their days and nights singing of their beloved’s deeds and līlās.
In this verse, the gopīs move beyond trying to control events and instead spend their days singing Kṛṣṇa’s beloved pastimes—showing that remembrance and kīrtana transform grief into devotional absorption.
They became convinced that Kṛṣṇa would not be turned back, and when hope of changing His departure faded, they redirected their hearts into glorifying His līlā rather than resisting His will.
When outcomes cannot be changed, shift from anxiety to devotional remembrance—chanting, hearing, and speaking about the Lord’s qualities and deeds—so the mind becomes steady and uplifted.
