The Killing of Ariṣṭāsura and Kaṁsa’s Plot to Summon Kṛṣṇa
सोऽप्येवं कोपितोऽरिष्ट: खुरेणावनिमुल्लिखन् । उद्यत्पुच्छभ्रमन्मेघ: क्रुद्ध: कृष्णमुपाद्रवत् ॥ ९ ॥
so ’py evaṁ kopito ’riṣṭaḥ khureṇāvanim ullikhan udyat-puccha-bhraman-meghaḥ kruddhaḥ kṛṣṇam upādravat
Thus provoked, Ariṣṭa pawed the earth with his hoof, dust-clouds swirling around his upraised tail, and in fury he charged at Kṛṣṇa.
This verse describes Ariṣṭāsura, enraged and destructive, tearing up the earth with his hooves and charging directly at Śrī Kṛṣṇa with his tail raised and whirling like a cloud.
In the Vrindāvana pastimes, demonic forces sent by Kaṁsa repeatedly tried to kill Kṛṣṇa; Ariṣṭāsura, taking the form of a powerful bull, attacked to terrorize Vraja and harm Kṛṣṇa.
When fear or aggression “charges” at the mind, this līlā encourages steady faith: take shelter of Kṛṣṇa through remembrance and devotion, trusting that the Lord protects the sincere.
