O Acyuta, simply by seeing You I was at once freed from the brāhmaṇas’ punishment. One who chants Your holy name immediately purifies all who hear, as well as himself—how much more auspicious, then, is the touch of Your lotus feet!
This verse states that merely uttering Kṛṣṇa’s name immediately purifies both the listener and the one who chants.
After Kṛṣṇa’s appearance and intervention, Varuṇa acknowledges that the Lord’s darśana instantly freed him from divine chastisement and glorifies the purifying power of Kṛṣṇa’s name and feet.
Make sincere nāma-japa and kīrtana a daily practice, trusting that remembrance and chanting of Kṛṣṇa steadily purify consciousness and character.
