Urged on by the Lord—who was present above and below the mountain and had entered the devas, the asuras, Vāsuki, and even the mountain itself—the devas and asuras, almost mad for nectar, churned the Milk Ocean with the great mountain in great haste. The waters were so violently agitated that the crocodiles were thrown into turmoil, yet the churning went on.
In this verse, Śukadeva describes how the Devas and Asuras, empowered by the Supreme Lord from within, vigorously churned the ocean with the great mountain, violently stirring the ocean’s creatures.
Because the Supreme Lord (Viṣṇu) entered within them and invigorated their strength and determination, enabling the churning to proceed powerfully.
Even intense endeavors succeed when supported by the Divine within; channel strong ambition into disciplined effort, while remembering that true power and outcome ultimately depend on the Lord’s sanction.
