Indra Slays Namuci—The Limits of Power and the Triumph of Divine Strategy
ब्रह्मणा प्रेषितो देवान्देवर्षिर्नारदो नृप । वारयामास विबुधान्दृष्ट्वा दानवसङ्क्षयम् ॥ ४३ ॥
brahmaṇā preṣito devān devarṣir nārado nṛpa vārayām āsa vibudhān dṛṣṭvā dānava-saṅkṣayam
O King, seeing that the demons were about to be utterly annihilated, Lord Brahmā sent the sage Nārada, who went before the demigods and made them cease fighting.
Because he saw the demons were being destroyed excessively, and he restrained the demigods to prevent needless annihilation and to keep the conflict within dharmic bounds.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating this account to King Parīkṣit.
Even when victory is possible, one should act with restraint and higher guidance, avoiding cruelty and excess, and aligning actions with dharma rather than anger.
