Frequently Asked Questions

It is used to consecrate añjana (collyrium/eye-ointment) so it becomes both a healing aid for the eyes and a protection against harmful influences such as the evil glance.

Naming Dyāvā-Pṛthivī, Mitra, Brahmaṇaspati, and Savitar declares the remedy to be perfected on every level—cosmic stability, moral order, mantra-power, and divine activation—so it is ‘svākta’ (faultless and effective).

Recite the verse over the collyrium as a consecration, then apply a small amount with a clean applicator. Traditionally it is done in the morning or whenever protection of sight is sought.
