Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (probable)
Mantra 1
वैश्वानरः। वऋतावानं वैश्वानरमृतस्य ज्योतिषस्पतिम्। अजस्रं घर्ममीमहे
Vaiśvānara—him, rich in ṛta, Vaiśvānara, lord of the light of Order—unceasing heat and glow we crave and supplicate.
Mantra 2
स विश्वा प्रति चाक्लृप ऋतूंरुत् सृजते वशी। यज्ञस्य वय उत्तिरन्
He, the controller, hath set in order all things in due response; in accord with Ṛta he sendeth forth the seasons, having borne the Sacrifice’s vital strength across (to its fulfilment).
Mantra 3
अग्निः परेषु धामसु कामो भूतस्य भव्यस्य । सम्राडेको वि राजति
Agni, in the farther abodes, and Kāma of what is and what shall be—one universal Sovereign—shineth forth in kingly splendour.
It asks for ajasra gharma—continuous protective warmth—and for the illuminating order of ṛta that keeps life and ritual from falling into disorder.
Ṛta is right order; ṛtu is right timing (seasons). The hymn treats Agni as the power that aligns timing with order so actions ripen properly and rites succeed.
Recite it facing a steady flame (lamp or fire), optionally offer a little ghee, and set the intention for warmth, steadiness, and the smooth completion of your work or worship.
