Sukta 17
अच्छा म इन्द्रं मतयः स्वर्विदः सध्रीचीर्विश्वा उशतीरनूषत । परि ष्वजन्ते जनयो यथा पतिं मर्यं न शुन्ध्युं मघवानमूतये
ácchā ma índraṁ matáyaḥ svàr-vidaḥ sadhṛ́cīr víśvā uśatī́r anūṣata | pári ṣv ajante jánayo yáthā pátiṁ máryaṁ ná śúndhyuṁ maghávānam ūtáye ||
Toward Indra, for me, have the thoughts—heaven-winning, straight-directed, all of them, eager—sung their laud. Round about they press him on, as women (press) a husband, as (they press) a bridegroom, the purified, the bounteous, for our succour.
Rishi: Rigvedic attribution (imported into AV 20): traditionally a Hotṛ-line seer of an Indra hymn (exact RV r̥ṣi varies by parallel; AV 20 follows RV collections).
Devata: Indra (Maghavan)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (by RV-style cadence and pāda length)
