antardhír devā́nāṃ paridhír manuṣyā́ṇām agnír gārhapatyá ubháyān antarā́ śritáḥ ||
English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)
A screen for Gods, a fence for men is Agni, the House-Fire: between the twain he standeth, set as the middle stay.
