vatsasthānam etad iti kauṇapadantaḥ
Kauṇapadanta says: this is a “vatsasthāna” (a calf-pen—a place of rearing/holding).
It frames custody as protective rearing and training (low hostility), whereas 'snake-danger' frames it as handling a latent threat requiring caution.
