तीर्थाभिषेचनं महाकच्छवर्धनं गवां श्मशानावदोहनं कबन्धदहनं देवरात्रिं च कारयेत् ॥ कZ_०४.३.१५ ॥
tīrthābhiṣecanaṃ mahākacchavardhanaṃ gavāṃ śmaśānāvadohanaṃ kabandhadahanaṃ devarātriṃ ca kārayet
He shall arrange sacred bathing/ablutions at tīrtha (pilgrimage-fords), the augmentation rite of the Great Tortoise (mahākaccha), the ‘cemetery-milking’ of cattle, the burning of corpses, and the Deva-night observance.
Most directly, organized corpse disposal (kabandha-dahana) and coordinated public observances that manage fear, movement, and compliance; the rest function as legitimating and pacifying measures.
