kalahe ghnataḥ puruṣaṃ citro ghātaḥ
When a man is killed in a quarrel, the killing is “variegated” (i.e., it admits differentiated categories/grades).
It signals that liability depends on intent, provocation, weapons, escalation, and situational factors—so the law should not treat all brawl deaths as identical.
