Teaching on Desire & Renunciation; Delegation of Kingdoms
Sage Parāśara (in instruction to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: The fruit of harmlessness and equal vision: when malice ceases toward all beings, the world becomes auspicious in every direction.
Teaching: Ethical
Quality: compassionate
Concept: When one abandons harmful intent toward all beings and abides in equal vision, one experiences the world as universally peaceful and supportive.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Adopt daily non-harming vows in speech and action, practice empathy, and reduce reactive hostility through meditation and self-inquiry.
Vishishtadvaita: Samadṛṣṭi aligns with seeing all selves as real dependents (śeṣa) of the one Lord; ethical non-harming flows from recognizing divine ownership and indwelling governance implicitly.
Bhakti Type: Shanta
This verse presents samadṛṣṭi as the fruit of non-harmful intention toward all beings: when malice is absent, the world itself is experienced as safe and auspicious in every direction.
Parāśara emphasizes inner disposition as primary—sin begins as a harmful bhāva toward living beings, and freedom from that intention establishes a stable, peaceful life-experience.
Though not named in the verse, the teaching aligns with Vaishnava dharma: living in harmony with all beings reflects alignment with Vishnu’s sustaining order (dharma) that upholds the cosmos.
